A guide to natural limestone tiles

Limestone tiles combine natural colour, fossil detail and individual markings. Explore beige and cream Dijon, ivory and honey-toned Jerusalem, fossil-rich Shellstone, and the cooler tones of Seagrass and Rustic Green. Compare the exact stone, finish, format and thickness for your project before choosing.

Dijon limestone tiles

Choose from tumbled, honed, brushed and seasoned Dijon limestone. Rectangular tiles create quieter layouts, while herringbone pieces and paving cobbles add pattern. Sizes and thicknesses differ between products and variants, so check the specification for the intended location.

Jerusalem limestone tiles

Compare Sunny Egyptian, Galala Ivory Light Cream and Antique Gold limestone. The range spans pale ivory, warm cream and honey tones in selected honed, tumbled and seasoned finishes. Exterior use depends on the exact stone, thickness and installation specification.

Shellstone & decorative stone

Shellstone highlights natural shell and fossil details; Seagrass and Rustic Green bring a different palette. Compare individual hexagon tiles with separate small-piece mosaics. The octagon range includes Shellstone limestone with Classic travertine inserts, and Myra split face panels are vertical wall cladding.

Limestone for kitchens, bathrooms and outdoor spaces

Compare limestone floor tiles for kitchens and living spaces, wall tiles for bathrooms and splashbacks, and selected exterior paving. Confirm each product for the proposed location. Wet floors need verified slip performance, waterproofing and drainage. A honed, brushed, tumbled or seasoned finish alone does not establish slip resistance, frost performance or exterior suitability.

Planning, sealing and limestone care

Read the selected variant’s dimensions, thickness and sales unit before calculating quantities. Tiles, boxes and individual cobbles are different units; allow for cuts, layout alignment and spare material. Dry-lay stone from several packs to balance natural variation. Use a compatible fixing system and sealer as directed by the suppliers. Clean with a pH-neutral natural-stone cleaner, wipe up spills promptly and avoid vinegar, acidic descalers and abrasive products.

Limestone tile questions, answered

What is the difference between honed, tumbled, brushed and seasoned limestone?

Honed limestone has a smooth, matt appearance. Tumbled stone has softened edges and an aged character. Brushing introduces gentle surface texture, while a seasoned finish has a more weathered appearance. The exact treatment varies by product, so compare the listed finish, photographs and samples. Texture alone does not confirm wet slip performance.

Which limestone colours and ranges can I choose?

The collection includes Dijon in warm beige and cream tones; Jerusalem Sunny Egyptian, Galala Ivory and Antique Gold; fossil-rich Shellstone; Seagrass; and Rustic Green designs. Colour, fossils, veins and surface markings vary naturally between pieces and batches. Choose from the exact product and sample rather than the range name alone.

Can limestone tiles be used in kitchens, bathrooms and showers?

Selected limestone tiles are specified for interior walls and floors, including kitchens and bathrooms. Check the individual product for your intended location. Shower floors need confirmed wet slip performance, a suitable waterproofing system and drainage. A stone sealer does not replace waterproofing. Split face ledger panels are wall cladding and should not be used on floors.

Does limestone need sealing and how should I clean it?

Limestone generally benefits from a compatible natural-stone sealer. Select it for the finish and location, test on a spare piece and follow the manufacturer’s application and maintenance instructions. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner, wipe spills promptly and avoid vinegar, acidic descalers and abrasive products. A sealer improves stain resistance but does not make limestone stain-proof.

Can I use limestone tiles and cobbles outside?

Choose a product specified for the proposed exterior use. This collection includes selected paving cobbles and thicker tile formats, but not every limestone tile is suitable outdoors. Confirm the exact thickness, frost performance, wet slip requirements, loading, drainage and fixing system before ordering. Check the selected variant rather than assuming suitability from a room illustration.

Can I order samples and how do I work out the quantity?

Samples are available for selected products; see the sample service and the sample option on the product page. For the main order, measure the area and check the selected variant’s dimensions and sales unit. Individual tiles, boxes and cobbles require different calculations. Allow for cuts, the chosen layout and spare material, and ask our team to confirm unclear pack coverage.

Can your factory make bespoke limestone tiles or mosaics?

We can review custom limestone sizes, finishes, stone combinations and mosaic designs through our own manufacturing facility. Discuss your limestone project with our team. Feasibility, sampling, minimum quantities, pricing and production lead times are confirmed for each enquiry.
